Project Tesla Power Wall : A New Horizon in the Alternative Energy Solutions

Electricity has always been the blessing for us since its inception. But have you ever thought of how electricity generation is negatively impacting our environment? Well, Tesla did some thinking and as a result they have come up with a solution.
Before talk about the solution, you must know how electricity generation works. Burning coal, petroleum and other fossil fuel at an extremely high temperature is the necessary means of generating electricity. But while doing that these fuels emit a wide quantity of CO2 in the air which subsequently affects the environment negatively.
Now let’s get back to Tesla’s solution. Understanding this environmental situation, Tesla has created a new energy storage system named as “power wall”. Power wall is a home battery that charges using electricity generated from solar panels or when utility rates are low and powers your home in the evening. In simple words, power wall is a battery just like your home IPS; however, while IPS charges from electricity that comes from burning fossil fuel, power wall charges itself sucking electricity from solar panel. Obviously sun gives naturally plenty energy to solar which can be stored in power wall. With that storage, you can power your home in the evening, back up your home at the time of power failure and last but not the least is to avoid high peak utility bills.
Speaking of utility bills, electricity is mostly demanded in the evening when peak rate is high. On the contrary in the day time, this rate is comparatively low. So if you are to save some bill in the evening, you can use power wall so that it can store energy during day time from solar that takes energy from the sun directly. The whole process is eco friendly and cost effective.
For home use, Tesla has made two models- a 7 KWH for $3000 and a 10 KWH version for $3500. To use power wall you must have a solar panel. The prices mentioned are excluded from solar panel cost, installation cost and converter cost.
The advantages of using power wall are that it automatically switches to battery power at the time of power failure. Moreover, Tesla CEO, Elon Must, in his power wall presentation last week, assured a 10 year warranty for the batteries which can further be extended for another 10 years. These units will be connected to internet so that the owners can easily access them to manage when it is needed.

For business purpose, Tesla also showed how the larger batteries will look like. There will be thousands of boxes holding batteries for commercial purpose which will provide 100 KWH.

Tesla also has been planning to use “battery gigafactory” which will produce 50 GWH annually by 2020, good enough to charge 500,000 Tesla cars. More of this gigafactory will be built, according to Elon Musk. In addition this factory will run with the help of renewable solar energy which will be environment friendly.

To clarify users understanding of power usage, Tesla presented below graph which depicts the consumption of power from each appliances. With the given power capacity from power wall, owners can easily run their appliances without having any deficiency in supplying power to home.

Elon musk emphasized on using power wall for those who live in remote areas with no electricity wires or where natural disasters frequently occur. He also asked other tech giants like them to come forward to use power wall so that environmental destruction can be thwarted.

Suffice it to say Tesla power wall is undoubtedly a luxury product however a future too. The sun is the natural energy which we can use with solar panel. This renewable energy emits no gas therefore does not harm the environment yet it exploits electricity without harming Mother Nature. Imagine a world with zero gas emission therefore a clean breathing universe for the next generation, can only be longed thorugh embracing the future.

Question is whether Elon Musk and his team would be able to shape the future with Power Wall?
